Can putting lime on your lawn kill fleas?

Agricultural lime is an effective treatment for lawns with fleas. The lime works by breaking the fleas’ life cycle, dehydrating them and their larvae. Prepare the lawn by raking away sticks, leaves, tall weeds and debris, since this exposes the fleas to direct sunlight, helping to kill them.

After preparing the lawn, use a fertilizer spreader to apply the lime evenly over the lawn, basing the amount of lime applied on the manufacturer’s instructions. Once per week, water the lawn, and continue with weekly watering until the lime’s white residue is gone. If issues persist, reapply the lime. Keep the grass cut short, and rake the lawn often to eliminate places for fleas to hide and breed.
