The most reliable trout stocking schedule is available directly through the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. Anglers can visit the DNR home page and select the Trout Stocking hyperlink from the Fishing header, or contact the department directly with inquiries at 304-558-3399, as of 2015.

Stocking occurs weekly or monthly in many waters from January through May, and information is updated at the website daily at 4 p.m. during these months. Stocking in ensuing months is small-scale and not conducted as often. Additionally, to give all fisherman the opportunity to catch large trout, not all stockings are divulged to the public.
