How can I run a credit check on someone?

Only people with power of attorney or who work for a business with a specific need to see a customer's or applicant's credit score can run credit checks. Businesses must get the permission of the person on whom the check is being run.
Authorized individuals or business can obtain reports through one of the three national credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Each agency tallies credit scores slightly differently, so AllBusiness recommends that if multiple checks are requested, they all be from the same agency. Each agency requires that a simple form be filled out and filed before credit records can be released.
