Can I get something notarized at the post office?

U.S. post offices do not offer notary services as of August 2014 because the U.S. Postal Service is a federal institution and notary licenses are issued by states. However, some contract stations of the USPS, such as those on college campuses, do offer notary services.

The Postal Service Protection Act proposed in 2013 in the U.S. Senate called for post offices to be able to provide nonpostal services in accordance with the public interest; these services could include check-cashing and vehicle registration services as well as notary services. However, as of August 2014, no further action has been taken on that bill.
