Stainless steel refrigerators can be cleaned without commercial cleaning products. Household ingredients such as baking soda, white vinegar, olive oil and club soda are effective, nontoxic cleansers for stainless steel appliances.
The first step in the cleaning process involves wiping away food and beverage spills with a paper towel. This prepares the refrigerator to be scrubbed with a soft sponge and a paste of 3 parts baking soda mixed with 1 part water.
It takes only minutes to clean stainless steel refrigerators with vinegar, club soda or baking soda. When poured onto a clean rag and rubbed over the metal, these liquids remove dirt and restore the steel's original shine.
