Symptoms of shingles start several days before the rash appears, explains WebMD. There may be pain or a slight bruised feeling, along with fever, chills, headache or upset stomach. A few days later a rash will appear as joined, fluid-filled blisters on a red, inflamed base of skin. Some people will not get a rash, or it may be mild.
