Why can't you use an online text book for your physical science course?

Specific schools and professors determine whether or not students can use an electronic or online textbook for a specific course. Many courses do not utilize online textbooks due to lack of availability, affordability or ease of use.

While some students do prefer electronic textbooks, it is still a new and widely unutilized technology. Many texts are not available in that format, or they are not as easily attainable as hard-bound books at student bookstores. Additionally, most electronic textbooks are not less expensive than paper books and are not as easy to use for note taking and studying, in some cases.
