Why can't you wear rosary beads around your neck?

Catholics view it a sign of disrespect to treat rosary beads like jewelry or to wear the beads as necklaces. This is in because they believe rosary beads are sacred objects intended for prayer.
Cannon 1171 of the Code of Cannon Law explains that while a sacred object belongs to an individual and is personal property, an individual cannot use a sacred object for inappropriate or secular reasons. According to Catholicism, a rosary worn as jewelry or displayed as an ornament does not glorify God. While some people wear rosary beads around their necks as a sign of faith, the Catholic faith frowns on this practice.
