How can you tell if you have a nasal infection?

Symptoms of a nasal infection, or sinusitis, can include congestion, coughing, discharge, headache, sinus pain or a sore throat, according to Healthline. Green or yellowish discharge that flows from the nostrils or drains down the back of the throat can also indicate a nasal infection.
Blockage of the nasal ducts contributes to congestion and the inability to breathe clearly, notes WebMD. Facial pain and pressure felt behind the eyes and nose is a result of built-up fluid and inflammation of the nasal passages. If these cold-like symptoms last two to four weeks, they indicate a case of acute sinusitis. Chronic sinusitis lasts for more than eight weeks.
