The number of times to use a nebulizer depends on the age of a patient and the type of bronchodilator being used. The use of a portable nebulizer is similar to using a home nebulizer, as stated by WebMD.
To prevent, bronchospasm, children above 12 years of age and adults should use the nebulizer 3 to 4 times a day with 2.5 mg of a bronchodilator. Children between 2 to 12 years of age should use 0.63 to 1.25 mg of a bronchodilator 3 to 4 times a day. Those who are below the age of 2 should seek medical advice prior to using, as stated by Mayo Clinic.
