White vinegar is useful for removing earwax, Hardin Memorial Hospital indicates. Vinegar should be mixed with the same amount of rubbing alcohol and gently introduced into the ear with a rubber bulb syringe. If this process is used every few weeks, problems with ear wax are often corrected or prevented.
Hardin Memorial Hospital also recommends a cleanser made with equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water. In most people, the ear canal pushes wax out, which makes getting rid of it manually an unnecessary procedure. However, if the wax is very thick, or if the ear canal is inefficient at eliminating wax, a build-up occurs.
