The U.S. Department of Agriculture offers statistics on the recipients of its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, more commonly known as food stamps. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services also offers a racial breakdown on the recipients of its Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families report includes a review of the trends in the demographics of welfare recipients throughout the last 10 years for race and age among other factors. However, the TANF statistics only distinguish between three categories of races: Caucasian, African-American and Hispanic.
The statistics provided by the USDA on SNAP includes more details on the race of its recipients, including Asian and Native recipients of welfare as well as those who have two or more different racial backgrounds.
