Can wisdom teeth cause sinus problems?

When wisdom teeth become severely impacted they can cause a wide variety of health issues including sinus problems. Wisdom teeth are the third molars to grow in the back of the mouth. When there is little room for them to come in, they are considered impacted.

Along with sinus problems, impacted wisdom teeth can cause pain, damage to surrounding teeth, cysts, gum disease and even tooth decay because it makes it harder to brush surrounding teeth when there is less room. Impacted wisdom teeth are usually surgically removed or extracted to help prevent future potential dental problems. In some instances a dentist may determine the teeth will not cause future problems and will choose not to remove them.
