What can go wrong with New Guinea Impatiens?
By Forinfos - 17/04/2026 - 0 comments
New Guinea impatiens prefer shade and potentially scorch if exposed to afternoon sun. Low light or low soil fertility often causes mottled leaves. Over watering causes the plant to lose leaf and flower buds. Root rot and moldy fuzz on the blooms are common problems.
New Guinea impatiens are prized for their large, colorful blooms. Named after their native island of New Guinea, these impatiens grow into a rounded mound. If planted 18 inches apart, they completely fill a flower bed in a few weeks. Daily watering and a monthly feeding of a low nitrogen plant food keep this plant looking its best.
