As of 2015, the Cancer Fund of America is facing a nationwide complaint filed against them by the Federal Trade Commission due to suspected misuse of donated funds. The complaint states that the charity is a sham and uses falsehoods in the process of soliciting donations.
The Cancer Fund of America claimed that all donations made to the organization were to be used to provide medical and personal care of cancer patients. The FTC complaint states that the charity actually spent less than 3 percent of their donations on cancer patients and instead misappropriated the funds for personal use within the organization.
