The Snicker’s bar was named in memory of the horse owned by Frank C. Mars. Snickers was a race horse that had passed away within a month of the candy bar’s creation.
Mars created the candy bar in 1930 by covering a nougat, caramel and peanut snack with chocolate. The original ingredients included white sugar, sweet milk chocolate, corn syrup, peanuts, milk condensed with sugar, coconut oil, malted milk, “whites of eggs†and salt. The Snicker’s bar was known as the Marathon bar in the United Kingdom until the late 1980’s when the company unified its branding strategies. The Snicker’s bar is a top-selling candy bar globally.
