Carom billiards is a version of billiards that is played with three balls on a table that does not have pockets. The object of the game is to get "caroms" by driving one of the white balls into the other two balls, a white one and a red one.
The ball being shot into the other balls is called the cue ball. Each carom is worth one point. A game is typically played to 50 points, or some other score that is agreed upon in advance. Hitting the wrong cue ball to begin a turn incurs a penalty of one point and loss of that person's turn. Carom billiards is also known as French billiards.
