When do you cash in a Series EE savings bond?
By Forinfos - 14/11/2025 - 0 comments
A Series EE savings bond can be redeemed after it is 12 months old, according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. If redeemed before it is five years old, the last three months of interest are lost. EE bonds earn interest for 30 years if held to maturity.
All E bonds and some Series EE bonds have stopped earning interest and should be redeemed, states the Treasury. Paper EE bonds can be redeemed at many local financial institutions or by mailing them to the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Electronic EE bonds are redeemed at the Treasury Direct site. Funds are credited within two business days of the redemption date.
