Do cat fleas live on humans?

Fleas do not usually live on human flesh. However, they are known to bite humans who live with or are in close contact with an infested animal.

Fleas can infest a home even when there are no pets present, as they can manifest themselves in the fur of other animals such as rats, raccoons and squirrels. Pets in the home should be treated for fleas, as should all of the pet living areas in the home, to eradicate the fleas. While fleas do not live on human skin, flea bites can cause hives and rash to humans who are allergic. Fleas can transmit diseases to animals after infestation.
