As of 2014 the cause of brain cancer is unknown, according to WebMD. Research has revealed several risk factors, involved, including possessing rare genetic conditions, such as neurofibromatosis or Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
Children who receive radiation to the head are at an increased risk of developing brain cancer as adults, notes WebMD. Age is another factor as people over the age of 65 develop brain cancer at a rate four times higher than the rest of the population. These risk factors represent only a very small part of the population that has been diagnosed, and research into its causes are still ongoing.
