A white bump on the upper eyelid could indicate an infection such as an eyelid cyst, explains Eye Health Web. Blocked oil glands, a condition known as chalazion, also causes a small bump to develop in the eyelid, according to Healthline.

Eyelid cysts cause white bumps to develop on the eyelid, and can also cause swelling, redness, tenderness, pain and itchiness to occur, notes Eye Health Web. Some patients report tenderness, discoloration and discharge that becomes crusty. Symptoms of chalazion include a hard lump on the eyelid that is tender, blurred or blocked vision, sensitivity to light, and an increased production of tears in the eyes, reports Healthline.
