What does "cc" stand for in medical terms?

In medical terms, "cc" most commonly stands for "cubic centimeter" and is used as a shorthand code or abbreviation, often when talking about doses of medication. One milliliter is equivalent to one cubic centimeter, or the volume inside a cube in which each edge measures one centimeter.

The volume of a teaspoon is equivalent to five cubic centimeters, or 5 cc's. A tablespoon is equivalent to 15 cc's, which is also the same as half an ounce. In medical terms, "cc" or "CC" also stands for cancer center, colon cancer, colorectal cancer, critical care, cholangiocarcinoma, cancer care, chief complaint, chronic cough and other meanings.
