What are the CFM requirements for a range hood over an electric or gas stove?
By Forinfos - 22/06/2025 - 0 comments
The air flow requirement for hoods over electric range tops is 100 cubic feet per minute for every 10 inches of range top width. The requirement for hoods over gas range tops is 100 cubic feet per minute for every 10,000 British Thermal Units in heating capacity.
The air flow capacity of a range hood is the volume of air that the hood can exhaust when running at its highest setting without the resistance of ducting. Exhaust ducting that covers a long distance or contains 90 degree turns has a greater resistance to the flow of air and lowers the volume of air that a hood can move.
