CFR is officially known as the Code of Federal Regulations. It is a codified version of rules published in the Federal Register by executive departments and agencies of the federal government.
The CFR is composed of 50 separate titles that cover a broad range of topics subject to federal regulation. Each title is divided into chapters that are assigned to the agency that issues the regulations. Chapters are further subdivided into parts that apply to specific regulatory topics. Lengthy and complex parts may be divided into subparts. All parts of the CFR are broken down into specific sections. While the CFR is updated each year, it is updated according to a staggered schedule throughout the year.
