A chain-wall foundation refers to a raised foundation that helps to keep buildings above flood level. Also known as a stem-wall foundation, it can be built on the site or purchased in a pre-cast concrete form that is easily installed.

The chain wall is constructed around the foundation of the building. It is a continuous wall that lies on a foundation slab or grade beam, which bonds the floor structure. The chain wall which looks like a fence of concrete mast and is used to act as grade walls in a basement or as a stable agent to elevate the flooring.
