The standard warranty for an air conditioning unit varies depending on the manufacturer, type and model. Most air conditioners come with a standard parts replacement warranty, but the length of the warranty can vary from less than 2 to more than 10 years.

Carrier offers a 10-year parts replacement warranty on many of its air conditioners, as of 2015. In addition, most Carrier air conditioners also come with an additional 10-year warranty on the unit's compressor. Fujitsu only offers a two-year parts warranty and a six-year compressor warranty, while Trane and Lennox offer a variety of different warranty lengths for their various models of air conditioners.

The length of the parts and compressor warranties for most Lennox air conditioners ranges from 5 to 10 years, while the Trane air conditioner warranties can range anywhere from 1 to over 12 years. Trane also offers different warranty lengths depending on whether the product was registered online within 60 days from the commencement of the warranty.

Amana offers a much better compressor warranty than many other brands, as some of its models feature a lifetime unit replacement warranty on the compressor. This warranty states that Amana must provide a new replacement unit at no charge should the compressor ever fail due to a defect in workmanship or materials.
