The security features of the new $100 bill took over 10 years to develop. The Federal Reserve released the new $100 bill design to the public on Oct. 8, 2013. The agency released the previous design in March of 1996. The 1996 design was the bill's first large redesign since 1929. The front of the $100 bill features Benjamin Franklin, while an image of Independence Hall appears on the back of the bill.
