The characteristics of a St. Bernard-golden retriever mix are difficult to predict due to the wide variety of traits it can inherit from its parent breeds. A St. Bernard-golden retriever mix, however, is likely to be a large, muscular dog with a broad muzzle, a scissors bite and hanging ears.
The St. Bernard is one of the largest dog breeds, capable of reaching almost 28 inches at the shoulder and weighing up to 200 pounds. The golden retriever is comparable in height but weighs between 55 and 80 pounds. Both breeds are gentle, affectionate and good with children. These qualities make the St. Bernard and the golden retriever exceptional family dogs.
