Check-in policies for Southwest Airlines cover check-in timing, baggage and carry-on items. The policies also govern special privileges that apply to the airline's EarlyBird and Rapid Rewards tier members.

Southwest Airlines allows travelers to check in and get their boarding passes online up to 24 hours before their flights. EarlyBird Check-In Customers and Rapid Rewards tier members get automatically reserved boarding positions.

Regular checked luggage cannot be more than 50 pounds and 62 inches in size (adding length, width and height). The airline accepts overweight items up to 100 and up to 80 inches in size for an additional fee.
