What are chicken giblets?
By Forinfos - 24/10/2025 - 0 comments
Chicken giblets are edible visceral organs, such as the heart, liver, gizzards and kidneys. Giblets are used in gravy or soup stock. They can also be roasted, broiled or fried.
Giblets are packed in paper or plastic bags and placed into the abdominal cavity of a whole ready to use chicken. Hearts and livers can be purchased separately. There is no danger if giblets wrapped in paper are accidentally cooked inside the bird. Discard the poultry if the plastic bag melts. According to the USDA, giblets should be stored at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Use refrigerated organ meats within 1 or 2 days and frozen giblets within 3 to 4 months.
