Zeus was the leader of the Greek pantheon. Zeus was considered the spiritual leader of the gods and the god of the sky. He is generally associated with thunder and lightning.
Zeus ruled from Mount Olympus with his wife and sister, Hera, the goddess of marriage and childbirth. He overthrew his father, the Titan Cronus, in order to take the throne. He was the only one of Cronus' children to not have been swallowed by his father. Zeus' mother, Rhea, tricked Cronus into swallowing a rock instead of Zeus and when Zeus defeated his father, he drew lots against his regurgitated brothers, Poseidon and Hades, to see who would rule on Mount Olympus.
