To remove chlorine from your hair, immediately rinse and shampoo after swimming. Once hair is washed, create a baking soda paste and apply to damp hair. Allow the solution to rest and rinse with shampoo and a protein-rich conditioner.
- Rinse hair after swimming
Immediately after swimming, thoroughly rinse your hair with warm water.
- Wash with shampoo
After rinsing, wash your hair with moisturizing shampoo.
- Dry your hair
With a clean towel, gently squeeze excess moisture out of your hair. Do not scrub your head, as this may damage hair strands.
- Create the cleaning solution
Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 cup of water. Stir to create a paste.
- Apply solution to hair
Apply the baking soda and water cleaner directly to hair strands. Allow the solution to rest for several minutes.
- Rinse hair
In the shower, rinse your hair with warm water. Shampoo as normal.
- Add conditioner to your hair
Once the cleaning solution is fully rinsed from your hair, apply a protein-rich conditioner. Because hair is 91 percent protein, protein-infused conditioners protect hair quality and strength by slowing damage caused by harsh chemicals, such as chlorine.
- Dry and style hair
Fully dry your hair using a clean towel. Do not blow dry on high heat, as this may damage your hair. Once dry, style as usual.
