What do chloroplasts do?

Chloroplasts are the organelles that can be found in plant cells, and their primary job is to conduct photosynthesis, according to Science Daily. Photosynthesis is the process that plants use to convert light energy into chemical energy, which is stored as bonds of sugar to provide fuel for the plant.

These organelles are very much like the mitochondria in animal cells, but they can only be found in plant cells and Protista. Both mitochondria and chloroplasts are surrounded by a double-composite membrane. They also have their own DNA, are involved in energy metabolism and have reticulations that fill their inner spaces.
