The Liberty Bell is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bell can be found on display at Independence Hall, which used to be named the Pennsylvania State House.
The Liberty Bell is a large bell that weighs approximately 900 kilograms, or 2,080 pounds. The bell was commissioned in 1751 by Isaac Norris, a Pennsylvania Assembly member. It was intended to serve as any city bell would, ringing during important times or events. Over time, it has served as a symbol for freedom. When first ordered and installed, the bell cracked when it was rung for the first time. After repairing the bell, it worked as intended for many decades, until a new, and now famous, crack developed over time.
