“Journey to Piya” is a film about a one-day road trip that turns into a 10 day trip, due to multiple breakdowns. The film features scenes that mention country’s socialist economy, which caused the film to get banned by censors.

In 1962, the Burmese government overtook the country’s film industry and applied strict censorship rules. As of 2015, most Burmese films are low-budget home video comedy films.
