What is classical management?

The classical style of management suggests that a manager increase efficiency within a business in order to increase the overall production of the organization, using a formal and rigid approach. This type of management uses a more mechanistic style, with much more discipline and rationality compared to a neoclassical approach.
Classical management is a combination of scientific, bureaucratic, and administrative theories and management styles. It is highly structured, with a clear hierarchy of management levels and employee expectations.
The classical approach to management is referred to as impersonal and outdated, however; many small businesses use classical management to successfully build their company.
