Is Clavamox used for cats?

According to Drugs.com, Clavamox is an antibiotic medication that is approved for use in cats. It is prescribed to treat urinary tract infections as well as infections from wounds, abscesses and dermatitis.

According to PetMD, Clavamox is only available for cats with a prescription from a veterinarian. It is available in tablet and liquid form. Clavamox is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.

Drugs.com states that the drug may cause an allergic reaction in cats who are allergic to penicillin. It should not be given to cats who are pregnant. The recommended dose of Clavamox for cats is 62.5 milligrams two times per day.
