How do you clean fabric blinds?

To clean fabric blinds, loosen the dirt, vacuum it up, soak a sponge in a soapy solution, use the sponge to wipe down the blinds, and soak up the moisture with a clean towel before letting the blinds air dry. Test the color of the blinds before getting them wet.
- Loosen dust and dirt with a duster
Run a lambs wool duster across the blinds in the direction the slats run. Avoid using plastic dusters.
- Vacuum up the dust and dirt
Secure the broom attachment to your vacuum cleaner. Suck up the dirt and dust by running the brush over the slats in the same direction they run.
- Prepare a soapy solution
Fill a bucket with warm water, and add a very small amount of all-purpose soap. Mix the soap well into the water.
- Soak the sponge
Place a sponge in the soapy water, allowing it to become well saturated. Squeeze the sponge so it is wet but not dripping.
- Test the color of the blinds
Use the sponge to wet an inconspicuous area of the blinds to ensure the color does not bleed or fade.
- Wipe down the fabric blinds
Rinse out the sponge in the soapy water. Gently wipe along the direction of the blinds. Focus on areas that are especially dirty. Keep rinsing out the sponge.
- Dry the blinds
Use a clean white towel to soak up as much of the moisture from the blinds as possible. Allow the blinds to air dry.
