To clean blinds, dust them, wipe them with a rubber sponge, lay them flat, brush them with soapy water, rinse them, air-dry the blinds and hang them. This process is intended for nonfabric blinds and requires a duster, a rubber sponge, a bucket, water, soap, towels, a car-washing brush and a hose.
- Dust the blinds
Insert a feather duster between the slats, and wipe the blinds from side to side.
- Wipe the blinds with a rubber sponge
Inspect the blinds for small stains and dirt smudges. Wipe the affected areas with a dry rubber sponge.
- Take the blinds outside
Take the blinds outside, and lay them flat on a towel.
- Wash the blinds
Fill a bucket with warm water, and add a squirt of mild dish soap. Bring the bucket outside, and stir the contents with a car-washing brush. Wash the blinds by inserting the brush between the slats and wiping it across them. Do not scrub the blinds vertically.
- Rinse and dry the blinds
Rinse both sides of the blinds gently with water from a hose. Blot them with a towel, then lay them flat on another towel. Allow the blinds to air dry.
- Hang the clean blinds
Wipe the slats with a finger to remove residual moisture, then bring the blinds inside, and hang them.
