To safely and effectively clean leather gloves, lightly dampen a towel with water and saddle soap, gently rub the soap into the soiled areas of the gloves, and then rinse the gloves with a different cloth. The process takes just a few minutes.
- Purchase saddle soap
In order to effectively clean your leather gloves, first purchase saddle soap. A popular brand, according to Good Housekeeping, is Meltonian. You can purchase Meltonian saddle soap on Amazon.com.
- Dampen towel with water and soap
Wet towel with warm water. Apply a small amount of saddle soap. Next, rub the soap into the towel until you create a lather.
- Rub soap into the leather gloves
Place the leather glove you wish to clean first on one hand, and with the other hand, grab your towel covered with saddle soap, and use it to clean the leather glove's soiled areas. Be gentle, but work the soap into the dirty areas. Continue rubbing for 5 to 10 seconds, then repeat with the other glove.
- Use a damp cloth to rinse the glove
Take a separate cloth, and wet it only with warm water. Use the new cloth to wash off the saddle soap. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until you are satisfied with the cleanliness of your gloves.
- Allow the leather gloves to air dry
Leave the leather gloves on a flat, dry surface for several hours or overnight before wearing them outside again.
