Routine cleaning and application of a conditioner to your leather sofa ensures the longest life. Gather a vacuum, microfiber cloths, clean towels, white vinegar, distilled water and a leather conditioner.
Remove loose dirt and dust
Use a soft brush attachment on the vacuum to remove any surface dirt from the sofa. Use a crevasse tool to clean any small cracks.
Pre-treat any stains
Remove marker stains using hair spray. Clean any mold or mildew using rubbing alcohol. Treat grease stains by spreading baking soda over the area, allowing it to absorb the stain.
Wash with vinegar
Mix equal parts distilled water and vinegar. Use distilled water to prevent the damage that contaminants in tap water can cause. Dip the cloth into the solution, and squeeze until almost dry. Wipe down each section of the sofa with the rag. If the sofa is particularly grimy or sticky, add a few drops of mild dish detergent to the solution. If you wash with detergent, use a clean microfiber cloth to rinse with distilled water.
Dry the surface
Use a dry towel to remove any moisture from the leather. Allow to dry overnight before applying the conditioner.
Apply leather conditioner
Follow the manufacturer's directions to apply the conditioner. Allow to dry completely. Buff to a shine.
