To remove dirt and grime from porcelain surfaces, create a general cleaning solution with baking soda and warm water. Eliminate light surface stains with diluted hydrogen peroxide, or attack tough deposits, such as grease or soap scum, with a trisodium phosphate and water.
- Create a general cleaning solution
To create a general cleaning solution for porcelain surfaces, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1 quart of warm water. Stir with a wooden spoon until the baking soda is completely dissolved.
- Clean the surfaces
Dip a sponge or washcloth into the baking soda and water solution. Liberally scrub the porcelain to remove dirt and grime. Rinse with clean water, and allow the surface to dry fully.
- Create a stain removal solution
To remove light surface stains or discoloration, combine equal parts of consumer-grade hydrogen peroxide and warm water into a spray bottle.
- Spray the stains
Saturate the stains with the cleaning solution. Allow the solution to soak for several seconds before scrubbing with a clean cloth or sponge. Immediately rinse the solution with clean water after scrubbing to prevent damaging the porcelain.
- Combine ingredients for deep stain removal
To remove deep stains, such as layers of soap scum, mix 1 tablespoon of trisodium phosphate with 1 gallon of warm water. Stir until the trisodium phosphate is completely dissolved.
- Wash the stains
While wearing latex or rubber gloves, pour the cleaner on the stain. Allow the mixture to rest for several minutes before scrubbing with a disposable sponge or cloth. Rinse with cool water, and repeat until the stains are gone.
