Cleaning windows with vinegar may cause an odor. However, the scent of vinegar can be eliminated with essential oils. A mixture of 3/4 cup white vinegar, 3/4 cup water and 20 drops of essential oil in a spray bottle will clean and leave a fragrant odor.

Good essential oils to mix with vinegar include citrus, mint or cinnamon. Citrus oils enhance the cleaning power of vinegar and make an effective addition to the cleaning solution. A mason jar of citrus peels filled with vinegar and left to stand for four days then strained and poured into a spray bottle makes a pleasant-smelling and powerful cleaner.
