What is a clear shot in Badminton?

Clears in badminton are the typical strokes used to push opponents toward the rear of the court, or backcourt, and are playable on forehand and backhand as well as both overhead and underarm. This stroke is the most common type in badminton.
There are several variations of the clear shot. For example, one can be an offensive or defensive clear, with the former being intended to drive the opponent back and force a weak return, while the latter fends off encroachment. Similarly, underarm clears are better for hitting the opponent's back court from the player's front court, although whether they should be played high and deep or flatter depends on the situation.
