Evie, the Cleverbot avatar on Existor's homepage, was created in the United Kingdom. Rollo Carpenter, Evie's creator, and Existor are both from the United Kingdom.

Evie learns and develops its speech abilities as users interact with it. Each new conversation affects how it speaks to other users in the future. It attempts to imitate a real person with vernacular language.

Existor was founded in 2007. Its goal is to develop Evie and promote research on artificial intelligence. The company is also known for Cleverscript, a scripting engine that can be used with a mini-Cleverbot to help developers work with Evie and other Cleverbots.
