Is Cleverbot a real person?

Cleverbot is a chat application that uses artificial intelligence to respond to a user's input. Cleverbot learns by remembering the words that humans have used in over 200 million conversations since 1997.

Cleverbot searches its database for pertinent keywords or an exact phrase in a user's input. Then, Cleverbot analyzes how humans have responded when Cleverbot has used the same keyword. Cleverbot also considers the context of the conversation in progress when deciding which response to give. In 2011, Cleverbot took a formal Turing test where 59.3 percent of participants thought they were conversing with a human. Since that date, Cleverbot has been upgraded so that its database can continue to grow.
