The climate in Antarctica is extremely cold with very little precipitation. The coldest ever temperature to be recorded on Earth was -128.56 degrees Fahrenheit in Antarctica at Vostok Station.
Antarctica is technically a desert continent that is located at the South Pole of the planet. Due to the frigid climate, the entire continent is covered in a massive sheet of ice, with an average thickness of 1 mile. With global climate change, there have been concerns about the increasing rate of melting ice on Antarctica. There is very little life on Antarctica besides a few animal species, mainly penguins. Humans typically only visit for a short time on scientific expeditions.
