How close can you park to a crosswalk?

Each city ordinance is different, but some laws forbid parking within 20 feet, or 6 meters, of a crosswalk at an intersection. This 20-foot rule is enforced in large metropolitan areas such as New York City.
Cities such as Chicago expressly forbid parking on a crosswalk, but do not hold the same rule for passenger cars. However, larger vehicles, including SUVs that are taller than 6 feet in height, are expressly forbidden from parking within 20 feet, or 6 meters, from a crosswalk. New York City also considers it a traffic violation to park within 30 feet of a stop or yield sign.
