Medicated cream containing clotrimazole and betamethasone is used to treat certain types of fungal infections, including athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm, according to Drugs.com. Also known as Lotrisone, the cream contains both an antifungal and a corticosteriod, and works by weakening the cell wall of fungi.
Before using cream containing clotrimazole and betamethasone, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult their doctors, explains Drugs.com. People using this cream should not use more than the recommended dose or apply it to a large area of the skin, because it can be absorbed by the skin and cause severe symptoms, especially in children and the elderly.
