Clotrimazole cream is used to treat yeast infections, according to the National Institutes of Health's MedlinePlus. It treats the infection on various parts of the body.
Clotrimazole is also used to treat other types of fungal infections, including jock itch and ringworm, states WebMD. The medication is available by prescription and the dosage varies depending on the individual and condition being treated. Along with cream forms, the medication comes in powder, lotion, vaginal tablet and lozenge form. Side effects of clotrimazole include itching, burning, stomach pain and fever. If severe side effects occur after using the medication, contact a doctor as soon as possible.
